I post it with my middle finger, which is childish and absolutely ineffectual, but also oddly satisfying.

Howie messages me instantly. So that’s all happening again?

None of your business, I reply.

I’m on set tomorrow, he says.

My heart drops. Why?

Fuck. Why are they interviewing Howie?

I’ll even pay, he sends when I don’t reply.

They wouldn’t sue me, I thought. With their reputation, they’d be stupid to. Imagine how it would look. Former child star of The Real Deal finds reunion filming too traumatic to continue so production sues for breach of contract. Or to put it in tabloid terms: Belle Simon SUED. Friends say: ‘She can’t take it any more!’ They’d be cancelled instantly. Fred and Rupert can’t keep dodging bullets forever.

Howie messages again, just as I’m putting my phone away to go to sleep.
